Free vs the paid rivals.
Two paid rivals with public pricing sell AI agents a domain:
agentdomain.app — a full identity stack bought with USDC over x402, example quote
USDC 25.00 on Base, Enterprise plan $240/year — and
MCPDomain — real registrations through a Stripe checkout at wholesale + a small flat
margin, with free availability checks. AgentDomains costs $0. This page says exactly what
the money buys, and when it buys something we do not.
/pricing page); MCPDomain publishes no price table at all,
only a margin formula, so its TLD prices stay blank here. Prices move: check the sources
before you rely on a number. The wider comparison against every registrar and every free
subdomain lives on the main compare page.
yourname.com, transferable to any
registrar, with email on it. We give you a subdomain — yourname.makes.fyi
— that we operate. If you need to own the name, one of the two paid products (or any registrar) is the right
call and we will happily take your traffic anyway. If the name is the address for something
an agent just built and you want it live on HTTPS in one command, the $0 row wins on price
and on time-to-first-byte.
The table
| Product | What you get | Cost to first hostname | Payment method | Account required | Email on the name | SSL / HTTPS | Agent interface |

A subdomain of makes.fyi or agentdomains.co that we
operate — not a second-level domain, not transferable.

$0. Free covers 10 names with every feature; an optional Pro plan ($5/month, 100 names) takes nothing away from free. No card in the flow. | None to start. No crypto, no x402, no wallet, no balance. Pro is a card via Stripe Checkout that a human completes. |
No signup form: one unauthenticated POST /v1/signup returns an API key.
An email is required the first time you claim a name and the link must be clicked
within 30 days, or the names and account go.
|
No mailboxes. No MX on a plain name — email needs you to delegate the name to your own nameservers first. | Reverse-proxy mode terminates TLS at our edge with our certificate; or we publish the ACME DNS-01 TXT record so your own client issues its cert; or plain HTTP-01 works because the name resolves to you. |
CLI + MCP. Go CLI (agentdomains), stdio MCP
(npx -y agentdomains-mcp), hosted MCP at mcp.agentdomains.co
(19 tools), Claude Code skill.
|
| agentdomain.appagentdomain.app | The deepest bundle: a registered second-level domain (.com, .ai, .xyz) plus a Basename on Base, optional ENS, an AgentID NFT (ERC-721), email, DNS and managed SSL — all in one x402 checkout. | USDC 25.00 on Base in the example checkout flow on their homepage (the real total is live-priced from registrar data, Basename availability, ENS rent and gas). On top: $3.90 platform fee per agent per year, and Premium Plans shown 2026-09-29: Starter $59/yr, Pro $120/yr, Enterprise $240/yr ($20/month equivalent; 25 API keys, 200 DNS records, 20 email aliases). No free tier. | USDC over x402 on Base only. EIP-3009 signed locally, Coinbase CDP facilitator. Their own copy: "no human required." You need a Base-mainnet wallet holding USDC; no card or fiat path is documented on the pages we read. |
None. "No accounts, no KYC." Registration is one
POST /agents/register that answers 402 with the payment challenge.
|
Yes — send and receive. agent@yourdomain.com with
DKIM/SPF/DMARC pre-configured, 3,000 combined emails/month included, 30-day retention,
programmable via API keys.
|
Included in the bundle. Managed certificates on apex domains; autonomous renewals via a pre-funded USDC vault and keeper bots. No separate SSL price is published. |
MCP + SDKs. TypeScript SDK, MCP server (npx @agentdomain/mcp-server),
Coinbase AgentKit and ElizaOS plugins. Standalone CLI: not documented.
|
| MCPDomainmcpdomain.ai | A real second-level domain registered through OpenSRS/Tucows (ICANN-accredited, 700+ TLDs) in your name — portable, renewable, transferable — plus their MCP server as the storefront. |
TLD prices: unverified. They publish no price table; the
homepage example quotes $12.99/yr for a .com but that is a scripted demo.
Their stated formula: "wholesale + a small flat margin, no 'first year free' bait, no
auto-renew price hikes." Availability checks
(check_domain_availability, suggest_available_domains) are
free, no auth.
|
Stripe checkout. register_new_domain returns a
checkout_url; a human pays by card. Normal rails, no wallet to fund.
An unattended agent payment path is not documented.
|
A free MCPDomain account is required to register and configure. KYC policy: not documented. | Free email forwarding. Catch-all or per-alias forwarding to any inbox. Sending and mailboxes: not documented. | Not documented. No certificate-issuance feature appears on their site or in the server's tool list; their docs assume you point the domain at a host (Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Pages presets) that terminates TLS itself. |
MCP only, 7 tools, hosted at mcpdomain.ai/mcp or
npx -y mcpdomain. MIT-licensed server on GitHub. CLI: not documented.

What the money actually buys
The honest version: neither row above is a worse product than us, they are different products, and each charges for something real.
agentdomain.app charges for the bundle
A real domain plus Basename, ENS, an on-chain identity NFT, a sending mailbox and managed SSL in one API call, paid from a wallet with no human. If your agent operates autonomously and needs to own an identity — not just host a site — nothing else on this page does that. The costs: USDC on Base is the only rail, and the platform fee and plans stack on top of the live registrar price.
MCPDomain charges for the handoff
It turns "is this name free?" from a tab switch into a tool call, then sells the registration at wholesale plus a flat margin through Stripe, with free email forwarding thrown in. Sensible rails, an open-source server. The costs: a human still pays the checkout link, no price table is published, and it documents nothing past the domain, email forwarding and DNS — no proxy or edge HTTPS feature appears on its pages.
We charge $0 because a subdomain costs $0
yourname.makes.fyi has no registry fee behind it, so free can be honest
rather than promotional: 10 names, every feature, A/AAAA/CNAME/TXT records, forwarding, a
reverse proxy with edge HTTPS, DNS-01 for your own certs. What it is not is yours in
the registrar sense — see the warning box above.
So which one?
The site your agent built ten minutes ago
AgentDomains. One command, $0, HTTPS at the edge, records you can rewrite. If it turns out to matter, register a real name later and move — the name was scaffolding, price it like scaffolding.
An autonomous agent that must own an identity
agentdomain.app. If the wallet is already funded and the agent transacts unattended, the bundle — domain + email + NFT + renewals by keeper — is genuinely unmatched. Budget the $3.90 fee and a plan, not just the quote.
A human who wants a real .com, paid by card
MCPDomain (or any registrar). If a person will click the checkout link anyway, wholesale-plus-margin with free email forwarding is a fine deal and the name is yours to transfer.
Email on the name, sent from code
agentdomain.app. We have no mail story on a plain name; MCPDomain documents
forwarding, not sending. If the agent needs agent@ to send, that is a paid feature
somewhere — own it.
What we left blank
The same rule as the main comparison: unverified stays blank instead of becoming a plausible number.
- MCPDomain's per-TLD prices. Their README points to "current TLD prices on
mcpdomain.ai"; no table appeared on the pages we read on 2026-09-29, and the
$12.99figure lives inside a scripted chat example, not a price list. So it is quoted as an example, not as a price. - MCPDomain's SSL story. No certificate feature appears in their site copy or in the seven tools. Their DNS docs assume a host that does TLS itself. A documentation absence is not a stated "no", so the cell says "not documented" rather than "no".
- agentdomain.app's live quote for a specific domain. The checkout computes it at
request time from registrar data, Basename rent and gas. The
USDC 25.00 on Basefigure is the example printed on their homepage; the price for any given name is computed at checkout, so treat the example as an illustration rather than a quote. - MCPDomain's KYC policy, and anything else either provider does not mention (sending mail at MCPDomain, a CLI at either). agentdomain.app does state "No accounts, no KYC", which is why its cell says so; for everything else, "not mentioned" is not "no", so those cells say "not documented".
